Chaozhou, in eastern Guangdong, is the largest ceramic sanitaryware production base in China. Generations of kilns, glaze chemists and mould-makers sit within a few kilometres of each other. It is the reason a Chengda basin can move from a sketch to a fired sample in weeks, not months. Today, thousands of ceramic wash basins, toilets and bathroom products are produced here every day for customers around the world.
